Habits You Need To Avoid To Prevent Premature Ageing!
Are those fine lines freaking you
out? Are you concerned that despite smearing on all those anti-aging skincare
products, you will begin to look older too quickly? Do not fret…you are not
alone!
It
is true that when you look good you also feel good. So, your skincare regime should
deliver the best skin. Today we will discuss some habits that may be
contributing to your skin ageing. Read on to learn more!
Overconsumption of Fat and Sugar
Foods
containing high levels of sugar and fat can be detrimental to skincare, causing
premature ageing. Sugar restricts the collagen synthesis which in turn affects
skin elasticity and causes fine lines and wrinkles. It is said that those who
eat a lot of fruits and vegetables along with healthy fats tend to have fewer
wrinkles compared to those who consume a lot of sugar and fatty foods.
Insufficient Sleep
Good
sleep is essential for skincare. No wonder they call it beauty sleep. When you
get enough sleep, let’s say 8-10 hours, you will notice how your complexion
actually glows.
At
night time it decreases the release of cortisol, a stress hormone. This allows
for boosting the regeneration of your skin cells. When you are sleep deprived
your stress levels increase and so does sebum in your blood cells, which cause
acne.
Zero Protection from the Sun
Many
of us fail to understand that the harmful rays of the sun can contribute to
skin ageing. It is essential therefore to limit direct contact with the sun not
only during summer but also in the winter. This avoids the formation of dark
spots, fine lines and wrinkles on the face.
It
is suggested that you keep your hands covered with a layer of SPF of at least
30 or more. Even when it comes to restricted spaces, UV rays can breach through
the windows and lead to premature ageing. You can also pair the sunscreen with
other skincare products like
the ones comprising vitamin C, caffeine etc.
Less Attention to Hands and Neck
Your
hands and neck are continually exposed to the sun and the radicals in the
environment. The skin of your hands and neck tends to dry up quickly and
therefore lose its elasticity. You can apply moisturiser and sunscreen-based skincare
products. Face creams are also a
good option.
Rinsing of Dry Skin
We
often tend to wash our hands a lot with water and forget to dry. The water
parches your epidermis causing the skin to age. It is therefore advised that
you clean your sensitive skin using a moisturising skincare product which is suitable for your skin and guards the
upper most layer.
The Use of Unfitting Products
It's
common practice among us girls to buy skincare products not suitable for our
skin, having been driven by enticing advertisements. It’s a big blunder to
apply excessive oily formulas which may result in acne breakouts.
If
you have dry skin then abrasive scrubbing and strong skincare products
need to be avoided at all costs. You may also refrain from using flavoured and
scented creams. It's best to consult your skincare
specialist to help you better understand your skin type and then
acclimatise products to it.
Switching Products Often
Women
tend to keep switching their skincare
products a lot. For instance, if they are using a particular cream and it's
not showing quick results then they may change it. Most of you don’t understand
that any given product takes at least 6 weeks to produce a visible impact. You
need to be particularly very patient with anti-aging creams as these can take
around 4 months.
So, girls if you are concerned you
will turn into an old hag way ahead of your age, don’t worry. Just avoid these
habits in your regular routine and you will be set for life!
